An Adventurous Hilltop Wedding at The Byre at Inchyra, Perthshire
Some couples just get it. They know exactly what they want, they embrace the unpredictable, and they’re not afraid to step away from tradition in favour of something meaningful and memorable. Emily and Fraser are exactly that kind of couple.
Their wedding at The Byre at Inchyra in Perthshire was nothing short of an adventure — a celebration that perfectly captured their spirit, their love of the outdoors, and their determination to do things their own way.
A Hilltop Ceremony with Epic Perthshire Views
Rather than holding a traditional indoor ceremony, Emily and Fraser chose to exchange their vows on top of a hill overlooking The Byre at Inchyra and the stunning Perthshire landscape beyond.
In November.
In Scotland.
With no plan B.
They had their hearts set on creating an unforgettable experience for themselves and their guests — and they absolutely delivered. Wrapped up warm and full of excitement, everyone made the walk up the hill, rewarded with sweeping countryside views and that unmistakable feeling that something special was about to happen.
As a Scottish wedding photographer, these are the moments I live for — real, unscripted, emotional, and completely unique.
When the Weather Joins the Party
The Scottish weather did what Scottish weather does best — it kept everyone guessing. The rain held off just long enough for Emily and Fraser to complete their ceremony, giving them that magical window to say their vows with the wind in their hair and the hills behind them.
And then… the skies started to open.
Which meant we ended up with some absolutely hilarious and brilliant photos of Emily and Fraser running down the hill together, battling the wind and rain with a single umbrella, laughing the whole way. These are the kind of images that tell a story — not just of a wedding day, but of who they are as a couple.
Pure joy. Pure adventure. Pure Scotland.
Rustic Charm & Incredible Energy at The Byre at Inchyra
Once back at the venue, the celebrations continued inside the beautiful rustic setting of The Byre at Inchyra. With its exposed beams, warm textures, and relaxed atmosphere, it’s the perfect backdrop for a laid-back, personality-filled wedding.
The energy throughout the day was incredible — a brilliant crowd, plenty of laughter, and a real sense of everyone being fully present and soaking it all in. These are the weddings that feel less like a formal event and more like a big, joyful gathering of your favourite people.
Why I Love Photographing Rustic Autumn Weddings
There’s something truly special about photographing rustic venues in Autumn. The colours, the softer light, and the seasonal textures create a natural warmth that’s perfect for storytelling wedding photography.
As a natural Scottish wedding photographer, Autumn is one of my favourite seasons to shoot. The changing landscapes, moody skies, and golden tones add so much depth and atmosphere — especially in places like Perthshire, where the scenery does half the work for you.
Emily and Fraser’s wedding is a perfect example of how embracing the season — and the unpredictability — can lead to some of the most memorable and meaningful images of your entire day.
If you’re dreaming of an adventurous, outdoors-inspired wedding in Scotland, this is your sign to go for it.
