Intimate Family Wedding at Dakota Hotel Glasgow - Day One
A Relaxed and Meaningful Start
There’s something incredibly special about a wedding day that’s stripped back to its core. No big crowds or packed dance floors—just the people who matter most. Day one of Louise and Jamie’s wedding at the Dakota in Glasgow was exactly that: relaxed, emotional, and full of genuine moments.
The Dakota provided the perfect setting. Its warm, modern interiors created an atmosphere that felt both stylish and intimate—ideal for a family-only celebration. As Louise and Jamie exchanged vows surrounded by their closest loved ones, you could really feel the emotion in the room. These quieter ceremonies always have a unique depth, where every glance and smile carries meaning—and they’re a joy to capture.
Family Portraits at Blythswood Square
After the ceremony, we made our way to Blythswood Square for family portraits. It’s a brilliant location for this part of the day—open, elegant, and just a short walk from the venue. With no rush, we were able to keep things natural and relaxed, making sure everyone felt comfortable in front of the camera.
This slower pace really suited the day. It allowed moments to unfold organically, which always leads to more authentic photographs.
Exploring Glasgow for Urban Portraits
Once the family photos were wrapped up, I headed out into the city centre with Louise and Jamie. This is always one of my favourite parts of any wedding day—no strict schedule, just the freedom to explore and see what we can find.
Glasgow is full of character, and it didn’t take long to come across some fantastic urban backdrops. From textured walls to interesting light and architecture, we found some really cool spots that added a bit of edge to their portraits.
Natural, Candid Moments
Louise and Jamie were an absolute dream to work with. From the start, they were completely at ease—lots of smiles, plenty of laughter, and just genuinely enjoying being together.
That kind of energy is perfect for my natural, candid style. Nothing felt forced or overly posed; it was all about capturing them as they are. When couples relax into the moment like that, everything just flows—and it really shows in the final images.
A Perfect Beginning… with More to Come
Day one was all about connection—family, quiet moments, and the start of something special. It set the tone beautifully for what’s to come.
And speaking of what’s next… part two is going to be a completely different vibe. A week later, we’ll be back for the full celebration—with friends, a busy dance floor, and a whole lot of energy.
But for now, this was the perfect beginning.
