Scottish Highlands Elopement Photographer for Wildly in Love Adventurers

So… you’re thinking about sacking off the seating plan, the chair covers, and Uncle Bob’s 14-minute speech?

Good.

Let’s talk about running away to the rugged beauty of the Scottish Highlands and Islands and getting married somewhere that actually makes your heart race.

I’m a Scotland-based elopement photographer with over 10 years of experience photographing couples who decided that love + mountains beats ballroom + spreadsheets. And honestly? Best decision they ever made.

Eloping in Scotland isn’t just about incredible scenery (though we have that in unfair quantities). It’s about freedom. It’s about creating a day that feels like you. It’s about wind in your hair, boots instead of heels or brogues, maybe a flask in your backpack, and zero pressure to perform.

I take my job seriously — the light, the composition, the storytelling — but I also believe your wedding day should feel like an adventure, not a production. Expect world-class photography… and terrible banter, that will hopefully make you smile.

Why Elope to Scotland?

Because where else can you:

  • Say your vows beside a misty loch

  • Climb a hill in your wedding attire

  • Spot Highland cows on the way to your ceremony

  • Stop for fish and chips or a celebratory whisky mid-portrait session

  • Experience four seasons in one afternoon (more on that later…)

Scotland is dramatic, romantic, wild and completely unpredictable — which is exactly why it’s perfect.

My Approach – Relaxed, Flexible, Adventure-Focused

Here’s how your day typically flows:

The Morning

I’ll arrive at your accommodation for relaxed, unobtrusive getting-ready photos. No awkward posing. No shouting instructions. Just natural moments — lacing boots, buttoning jackets, nervous giggles.

The Ceremony

We plan the timeline around the most important part — your ceremony. Everything else flows naturally around it. Whether it’s a humanist ceremony on a hillside or something more intimate, we keep it meaningful and unrushed.

The Adventure

Afterwards? You can jump in my car. We’ll drive, explore, and chase light across some of Scotland’s hidden gems. Bring a playlist for the journey or let DJ Dave takeover.

If we see incredible light? We stop.
If you fancy a dram of whisky? We stop.
If you’re hungry? We absolutely stop.

There are no rigid time pressures. This is your day. We go at your pace.

Music is usually playing. Windows sometimes down. Laughter almost guaranteed.

What It’s Like to Work With Me

  • Calm presence (even if the weather is doing interpretive dance outside)

  • Gently guided portraits that never feel stiff

  • ‘Outstanding’ humour used strategically to get real laughs

  • 10+ years of location knowledge and elopement logistics

  • Over 100 five-star reviews on Google (which still blows my mind)

My goal?
You feel comfortable.
You feel relaxed.
You feel like yourselves.

And your photos reflect exactly that.

I love capturing couples who are a bit adventurous, a bit windswept, and fully in love. This job combines all my passions — photography, hiking, nature, music, and connecting with brilliant humans doing brave things.

Frequently Asked Questions About Eloping in Scotland

What’s the Weather Like?

Ah yes. The million-pound question.

Short answer: unpredictable.
Long answer: beautifully unpredictable.

You might get golden sunshine. You might get moody mist. You might get sideways rain for 12 minutes that disappears as quickly as it arrived.

The key? Embrace it.

Some of the most atmospheric, romantic photos I’ve ever taken happened in “bad” weather. Wind adds drama. Mist adds mystery. Rain adds cinematic magic (and occasionally damp socks).

We plan smart, stay flexible, and roll with whatever Scotland gives us.

What Should We Wear?

  • Layers

  • Comfortable footwear (yes, even under the dress)

  • Textures that move beautifully in the wind

  • Something that feels like you

Heels on a mountain path are… ambitious. Boots are iconic.

I’ll help guide you on outfits that photograph beautifully while still being practical. You don’t need to sacrifice style for comfort — Scotland does effortless cool very well.

How Do We Travel Around?

If you’re up for it, you can hop in with me and we’ll head to your ceremony and explore from there. I know countless tucked-away spots that don’t always appear in the standard tourist guides.

If you’d rather self-drive, that’s completely fine too. I’ll provide detailed planning advice either way.

What Does the Timeline Look Like?

We create a plan — but a loose one.

We schedule around:

  • The ceremony time

  • The best light

  • Travel logistics

But we leave space for spontaneity. Some of the best moments happen between the “planned” bits.

This isn’t a traditional wedding day squeezed into a tiny box. It’s an experience.

Will We Feel Awkward in Front of the Camera?

Almost everyone says this.

Almost no one feels that way after 10 minutes.

I’ll guide you gently. I’ll probably make you laugh. I might play your favourite song in the car. Before you know it, you’ll forget the camera is even there.

My aim is to capture personality, connection, movement — not stiff poses or forced smiles.

Can We Really Just Stop for Whisky and Snacks?

Absolutely.

In fact, I encourage it.

Want to celebrate with a dram on a hillside?
Pull into a coastal café?
Grab chips and watch the sunset?

This is your wedding day — not a military operation.

Who Eloping in Scotland Is Perfect For

  • Couples who value experience over spectacle

  • Adventurers who don’t mind a bit of wind

  • People who care more about meaning than tradition

  • Those who want breathtaking landscapes without a production crew

If that sounds like you, we’ll get along brilliantly.

Let’s Run Away to Scotland

If the idea of hiking into epic scenery in your wedding clothes makes you grin…
If you’d rather hear wind over bagpipes (unless you want bagpipes — we can absolutely arrange that)…
If you want your day to feel like the best adventure of your lives…

Then let’s make it happen.

Your elopement isn’t about running away from something.
It’s about running toward something better.

And I’d be honoured to capture every windswept, laughter-filled, wildly beautiful second of it.

Thank you so much for taking the time to look through my work. If you like what you see and feel that we’d be a good fit, please feel free to get in contact with me. I’d be more than happy to set up a video call to discuss everything in more detail.
