The Scottish Highlands have a way of capturing your heart, and for Solly and Josh, their elopement on the stunning shores of Rhu Point, Arisaig, was pure magic. Imagine this: pristine white sand, crystal blue water shimmering under a bright sun, and a backdrop of dramatic cliffs – the perfect setting for a love story to unfold.

As a wedding photographer, I've witnessed grand celebrations and intimate gatherings, but there was something truly special about capturing Alexis & Lauren's elopement in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park. These two Texans, with their infectious southern charm, decided to ditch the traditional wedding and exchange vows amidst the breathtaking beauty of the Scottish Highlands.

2024 has been such an amazing year for me for elopements in Scotland. After doing this for over 10 years, you’d think that I’d been everywhere in Scotland by now, but it seems that I haven’t even scratched the surface. This wee country still has so much to offer. Here’s a glimpse of some of my favourite moments from this year.

Beth & Ben travelled to one of Scotland’s most iconic and picturesque locations for a very special intimate family wedding. On the run to the wedding Beth described her vision for their day to be like something out of a fairytale… and that’s exactly what it was like. The perfect setting combined with the perfect couple made for such a special day, surrounded by their families, who all watch on in awe as Beth & Ben tied the knot in style.

Jemma and Sean travelled to Inveraray, Argyle & Bute, Scotland for a secret getaway to say “I do” on the banks of Loch Fyne. Supported by their closest friends/witnesses, they had an intimate ceremony on a beautiful stoney beach, with the mountains providing the backdrop. It was a super relaxed and perfect day for such a great couple to tie the knot and become a family.

Fort William, nestled amidst the awe-inspiring Scottish Highlands served as a charming location for the intimate wedding ceremony of Quinn and Lewis. With just a handful of close friends and family, they exchanged vows in a heartfelt ceremony at the Fort William registry office.

But the real magic began after the "I do's." The newlyweds, along with myself (their trusty photographer!), hopped on a ferry to the Isle of Skye, a place famed for its dramatic landscapes and untamed beauty. This wasn't your typical post-wedding photoshoot; it was an adventure!

Quinn & Lewis shared their personal vows in Sligachan with the Cuillin mountain range serving as a dramatic backdrop.

We scaled the Quiraing, a natural rock formation offering panoramic vistas that left us breathless. Quinn, in her flowing gown that danced in the breeze, and Lewis, his face beaming with newfound joy, looked like characters straight out of a fairytale amidst the rugged terrain. We almost lost the veil to the mountain due to the fierce Scottish wind, but I sprang into life and managed to catch it just in time.

I had the pleasure of photographing Fiona & Matt’s amazing winter elopement at Glencoe. They drove over from Ireland for their own wee Scottish adventure. It was cold… very cold, but that didn’t stop them from embracing the chill and exploring the hills and valleys. They had a beautiful woodland ceremony at Lochan followed by some exploring around some of Glencoe’s finest locations. It was a privilege to act as one of the witnesses and to spend the day with such a lovely couple. Here are a few pictures from their awesome day.

The wild winds of the Highlands tugged at the lace of the bride's gown, carrying whispers of romance through the rugged peaks of Torridon. This wasn't a wedding with a grand ceremony or a hundred guests milling about. This was an elopement, a love story unfolding in the embrace of the majestic Scottish landscape, witnessed only by the ancient mountains and the lens of my camera.

Our journey began at the historic Torridon Estate, where two souls from Belgium, far from the bustle of their homeland, prepared for their most intimate adventure. The air was thick with anticipation, not of a crowded aisle walk, but of the vows they would soon exchange amidst the untamed beauty of Beinn Alligin. No elaborate decorations, just the raw elegance of nature served as their backdrop.
